China Jorrin was born and raised into a photographic family in New York City. She got her first camera at six, which she used to photograph the kids on the block where she grew up on in Chelsea. She studied filmmaking at Bard College. After graduating and working in the film industry for a few years China left the States to live in Europe. There she began to pursue photography, at first working as a photo assistant to fashion photographers in Paris then working as a photographer in Prague for The Prague Post. When she returned to the New York China started to freelance for The Associated Press.  

China’s clients have included; Nickelodeon, The Ms. Foundation, The United Nations, Columbia University, Bard College Prison Initiative and The Soros Foundation/Open Society Institute. Her work has appeared in Bomb Magazine, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times,

New York City and the Hudson Valley
